Creating and Editing Custom Mapping Files

Custom maps enable you to export information from this application in a format that other applications can use. The mapping file details how the information is laid out so that it can be properly interpreted and then changed to another format.

Adding custom mappings

The process of creating a custom map involves two steps: the first is to provide a name and type of mapping (delimited or fixed length); the second is to provide details for the mapping. The details you provide depend on the type of mapping you selected in the first step. This section only provides information for the first step. For information on providing details for the map, see either Creating a Delimited Custom Mapping or Creating a Fixed Length Custom Mapping.

To create a custom mapping:

  1. Provide a descriptive name for the mapping.

  2. Enter an optional description to help you distinguish this custom mapping from other custom mappings.

  3. Select the output and input formats. The output format is the file type generated by the source application. The input format indicates the file type the original file is converted to.
